The cash sum, $25 million of which had already been announced, will help finance a new 45,000-square-foot exhibition pavilion designed by Renzo Piano behind the new Broad Contemporary Art Museum. Construction of the building began earlier this year and is scheduled for completion in 2010. LACMA has already raised the $201 million needed for the first phase of construction. The museum has not released details about the Resnicks' donation of artworks. The couple, who share chairmanship of Roll International, a private holding company that owns citrus and nut producers, the flower delivery service Teleflora, Fiji Water, and Pom juices, are known for their collection of sculpture and old master paintings. |
