The center, the first private museum of contemporary art in Russian, houses Pinchuk's collection of contemporary art, including works by blue-chip artists Damien Hirst, Jeff Koons, and Andreas Gursky. "Many wealthy people want to amass a trove of art treasures to stash away, but Victor Pinchuk has a vision to share his collection with society," Schneider told Bloomberg. "This is why I want to work with him." Schneider replaces Dmitri Logvin, who is now the museum's executive director. Pinchuk told Bloomberg that he was one of the buyers at Hirst's two-day, straight-from-the-studio sale at Sotheby's London earlier this month. "Over the past year, I've acquired works by my favorite artists," he said. "I bought Gursky, Koons, Murakami, Hirst, and Kiefer. Yes, I bought at the recent Hirst auction, but I won't name works. You must wait until spring when I'll display new acquisitions." |
