The free-admission fair runs 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Fridays, and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays, with a reception from noon to 5 p.m. on Oct. 12. A free ferry runs every hour on Friday and Sunday and every half hour on Saturday from the Battery Maritime Building next to the Whitehall Ferry Terminal.

“The most exciting part for me is to watch the lightbulb go on in people’s heads when they see Governors Island,” Sandidge said. “It’s like leaving New York and going to a whole other world.”
