The September debut of Larry Gagosian’s Moscow space, in a former chocolate factory, prompted one of his directors, Victoria Gelfand, to tell a reporter that almost half of Gagosian’s total sales now go to buyers from Russia and other parts of the former Soviet Union. But it was international star power that drove the opening night party. First daughter Barbara Bush mingled with shipping heir Stavros Niarchos iii; Julian Schnabel’s son, Vito; and actress Leelee Sobieski. How sweet it was!
