LONDON—All eyes were on London this week as Frieze Art Fair took over the British capital for its fifth edition. Many worried about the effects of the economic downturn, and sales seemed to move at a slower, more sober pace, but as is always the way with the art world, that didn't stop anyone from partying. From the fair's VIP preview party on Wednesday, October 15, through the Sunday close, the glitterati of the art and entertainment worlds were on hand, including dealer Joy Jopling, actress Sienna Miller, pop star George Michael, Tate director Nicholas Serota, director Sofia Coppola, fashion icon Valentino, and many many more. And Frieze wasn't the only one throwing a party this week in London. Galleries got into the celebratory mood as well, serving up afterparties all around town. Keanu Reeves was spotted at the Fitzrovia galleries' party at the Sanderson Hotel, while artists Elmgreen & Dragset camped out at Victoria Miro Gallery after the one-night-only U.K. premiere of their art production Drama Queens at the Old Vic theater.
