November 2008 Datebook
Opening November 5 is another solo exhibition, this one titled “Analogue.” The works on view—by photographer Zoe Leonard—document the decline of local economies due to globalization. Like a 21st-century Eugène Atget, Leonard roamed the globe, taking close to 400 photos of abandoned streets and decrepit storefronts with her 1940s Rolleiflex camera. Working with the Hispanic Society staff, she installed artifacts and navigational charts from its collection that contextualize her work within the institution. "Urban Studies" originally appeared in the November 2008 issue of Art+Auction. For a complete list of articles from this issue available on ARTINFO, see Art+Auction's November 2008 Table of Contents.
