NEW YORK—For this month’s picks, we deliberately cast the net wide — galleries in Chelsea, the Lower East Side, the Upper East Side, and NoHo; young artists, established artists, and even one deceased artist — and attempted to avoid themes. Still, it seems that the themes declare themselves: You might think we actually went looking for new photography, abstract painting by women artists, and racially charged political art. As with last month, November offers some stunning shows. These eight are just the tip of the iceberg.
