LACMA Is Major Donor to Victorious L.A. Transit Initiative

LOS ANGELES—The Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) was one of the biggest donors to the Measure R campaign, which L.A. voters approved yesterday at the ballot box, the Los Angeles Times reports.
The proposal will raise the sales tax in Los Angeles County by a half-cent to pay for more mass transit and transportation projects. According to plans, a new subway station will be adjacent to the museum. LACMA gave $500,000 to the campaign in early October and donated an additional $400,000 later in the month. Overall, the campaign has raised more than $3 million, which enabled it to run an extensive television ad campaign. Also donating to the campaign were former Mayor Richard Riordan and several labor unions. |
