Superdealer Larry Gagosian now occupies three floors of 980 Madison Avenue in New York.
NEW YORK—Superdealer
Larry Gagosian has expanded his 980 Madison Avenue gallery onto a third floor of the building, Artnet reports. Already occupying spaces on the sixth and fifth floors, Gagosian has now moved onto the fourth and is debuting an exhibition titled "Isabel and Other Intimate Stranger: Portraits by
Alberto Giacometti and
Francis Bacon." The show, which runs through December 15, features 60 portraits, including many of people in the artists' intimate circles.
Just a few blocks away from Gagosian, Belgian art dealer Christophe Van de Weghe has opened a new space at 1010 Madison Avenue, at 78th Street. The inaugural show is a collection of paintings by Jean-Michel Basquiat, on view through December 20. Van de Weghe already operates a gallery in Chelsea on West 23rd Street.
And Fred Torres, a longtime associate of photographer David LaChapelle and the artist's representative worldwide, has opened a new gallery in Chelsea, at 527 West 29th Street. Fred Torres Collaborations kicks off with a show titled "Alessandro Twombly: Figures of Eros," running through January 3.
