The Qatar Museums Authority has announced a partnership with New York's Tribeca Film Festival to produce an international film festival in Doha, reports Artforum. Scheduled for November 10–14, 2009, Tribeca Film Festival Doha will be presented by Doha’s new Museum of Islamic Art and in cinemas across Doha.

Modeled after the annual Tribeca event — now in its eight year — the Doha festival will screen recent films by established directors, as well as debuts from emerging talents. Forty films and special events, such as "The Doha Conversations," a discourse between icons of world culture set in intimate settings, will make up the first year's program.
