When in Palm Beach for… the Winter Art Fairs

Published: January 1, 2009
Built to resemble an Old World Mediterranean paradise, Palm Beach, Florida, has long been the winter playground of America’s moneyed gentry. This group has weathered economic ups and downs in the past, and through it all they’ve remained steadfast collectors of fine art, antiques and jewelry. Beyond the convention center there’s plenty to do, from the shops and restaurants on Worth Avenue to the increasingly hip scene across the Intracoastal in West Palm Beach.
Go:

PALMBEACH³
WHAT: The only all-contemporary fair in Palm Beach.
WHEN: January 15-18.
WHERE: Palm Beach County Convention Center.
HIGHLIGHTS: The fair expects 95 exhibitors for its 12th anniversary. · Organizers and exhibitors will host an extensive list of nonpublicized VIP events, including a dinner for the furniture-design legend Wendell Castle. · Look for Annette Sauermann’s 10-foot-wide Plexiglas and concrete Wall Relief (Orange), 2008, on view at the Baltimore-based C. Grimaldis Gallery.
