Blagojevich Portrait the Latest in Chicago Artists Nude Governor Series
Published: December 19, 2008
A nude portrait of Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich will soon accompany a nude portrait of Sarah Palin on the wall of the Old Town Ale House in Chicago, the Chicago Tribune reports.
Artist Bruce Elliott is responsible for the paintings, which he is loosely calling his "nude governor series." Elliott said he was inspired by the extent of the corruption allegations against the governor and is also hoping to quell criticism of the Palin portrait from Republicans and women by painting a male Democrat naked as well.
The painting depicts Blagojevich handcuffed and wearing an orange jumpsuit pulled down to his knees. A number of people look on, including a guard who is in the process of pulling on a rubber glove. It's titled The Cavity Search.
"Hopefully, someone is going to find this irreverent," said Elliott.
