Orange County Museum Delays Exhibition

Published: December 24, 2008
NEWPORT BEACH, Calif.—The Orange County Museum of Art (OCMA) will delay a highly anticipated Richard Diebenkorn exhibition for six months for financial reasons, the Los Angeles Times reports.

"Richard Diebenkorn: The Ocean Park Series, 1967–1985" was originally scheduled to open October 11, 2009, as the museum's fall headliner. But officials at OCMA say they did not think it was wise to present two particularly expensive exhibitions — the Diebenkorn show and "Illumination: The Paintings of Georgia O'Keeffe, Agnes Pelton, Agnes Martin, and Florence Pierce" — in the same year. "Illumination" runs May 3 to September 13 of next year.

The Diebenkorn show will now open April 4, 2010, and a less expensive exhibition will fill its former spot.
