PARIS— As the controversial Jeff Koons exhibition at the Château de Versailles stays open through the holidays and new year's, a new protester is attempting to get the show closed down — this time, a descendent of King Louis XIV. The Süddeutsche Zeitung reports via Artforum that Charles-Emmanuel de Bourbon-Parme is claiming that the exhibition is a "profanization" of the work of his royal forefather, the Sun King, and has called the show "an advertisement for a porn star," referring to Koons's former marriage to Italian porn star Ilona Staller, also known as "La Cicciolina."

De Bourbon-Parme is going to the French state court to prevent a potential extension of the exhibition beyond its current closing date of January 4. His claims include "the traditional right of any member of the human species" to "respect of forefathers" and "free access to cultural heritage without pornographic coercion."

According to Agence France-Presse, the office of Versailles expressed "dismay" at the case, which will be heard in the administrative court of the district of Versailles this week.
