NEW DELHI—Indian artist Manjit Bawa died on December 29 at the age of 67 after three years in a coma following a stroke, reports the Associated Press. Bawa emphasized peaceful coexistence in his work, often using images of different animals sharing the same space to convey the idea that people could live in harmony with nature. His canvases were known for their resilient colors. Bawa studied at the School of Art in New Delhi, as well as in Britain from 1964 to 1971, also working as a silkscreen painter there at the time.
