Marc Glimcher Starts Online Catalogue Raisonné Company
Published: January 9, 2009
Glimcher says the idea came from artists who have asked him for better record-keeping of their work and that he hopes in the future, other galleries will want Artifex to publish their catalogues raisonnés online also. At some point, the public will be able to access each catalog for a fee, estimated at a few hundred dollars per year. In 2001, Glimcher started another publishing venture, PaperBall, which organized traveling exhibitions, published books, and licensed artist-designed products, as well as managing the Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art in Las Vegas. Andrea Bundonis Glimcher, PaceWildenstein director of communications and Glimcher’s wife, said, “our work in Las Vegas was so labor-intensive that it became our focus” and that PaperBall had folded a year ago. |
