Sony World Photography Awards will honor French photographer
Marc Riboud with a lifetime achievement award, Artnet reports. Riboud is best known for his extensive photographic reports on the East, including pictures of life in China during
Mao's Cultural Revolution and photos documenting the Vietnam War.
Launched by Sony in 2007, the World Photography Awards honor professional and amateur photographs in a wide range of categories. This year's prizes will be given out at a ceremony at the Palais des Festivals in Cannes on April 16; the ceremony is part of a week-long photography festival sponsored by Sony, which takes place from April 14–19.
