Impossible b.v. has signed a 10-year lease agreement on the Polaroid factory in the Netherlands.

ENSCHEDE, Netherlands—A new company based in the Netherlands called Impossible b.v. has been founded with the goal to re-invent and re-start production of analog instant Integral film for vintage Polaroid cameras by 2010. Impossible b.v. has purchased the complete film production equipment from Polaroid, signed a 10-year lease agreement on the factory building, and assembled a team of experienced Integral Film experts from around the world.

In June 2008, Polaroid stopped producing analog instant film, closing factories in Mexico and the Netherlands, causing many aficionados of the camera to wonder how they would continue to take photos in the future.

Impossible b.v.'s goal is not to re-make Polaroid instant film, but to develop a new line of more effective components produced in a streamlined, contemporary setup. A New York company has also reached an agreement to assume production of the chemicals and products needed to make Polaroid images, but it seems to be interested only in a particular, and rather rare, form of Polaroid camera, the 20x24.
