Bill Viola to Receive Eugene McDermott Award from MIT

Viola, whose work deals with themes of the human experience, such as birth, death, consciousness, and the path to self-knowledge, will also spend one week in residency at MIT starting March 9. The McDermott award was created in 1974 to honor Eugene McDermott, co-founder of Texas Instruments and a long time supporter of the arts at MIT. It recognizes an artist working at the highest level of artistic achievement in order to enhance and stimulate creative activity at MIT. |
