Zhang Xiaogang is China's Most Valuable Artist, Report Says
Published: February 27, 2009
Zhang grossed $44.1 at auction last year, Yue $30.5 million, and Zeng $30.1 million. Zeng still boasts the record for most expensive Chinese contemporary painting ever sold at auction, for his Mask Series 1996 No. 6, which fetched $9.7 at Christie's Hong Kong in May. A survey released by London-based ArtTactic Ltc. earlier this month predicted that prices for Chinese contemporary art may fall in the next six months, however, as global economic woes decrease consumer confidence. |
