The Museum of Contemporary Art Denver is cutting four of 20 full-time staff positions and shrinking benefits to reduce costs as the economy continues to sink, the Denver Post reports.
"We need to be in a position where we can survive 2009," said museum spokesperson Karl Kister.
The eliminated jobs include communications manager, executive assistant to the director, and positions in education and tech support.
So far, no cuts have been made to exhibitions or other programming.
"We don't see a lot of savings in doing that right now," said Kister. "Getting people in the door is what we want to do, and programs drive attendance."
