Ukranian steel billionaireVictor Pinchuk is planning to mount the largest-ever show of work by British art star Damien Hirstnext month at his Pinchuk Art Center in Kiev, Bloomberg reports. The exhibition, titled "Requiem," will feature more than 100 works made by Hirst between 1990 and 2008 and borrowed from other international collectors.
Pieces planned for display include the sculptures A Thousand Years (1990), a dead cow's head covered in maggots and flies in a large glass case, and Away from the Flock (1994), a dead lamb in formaldehyde in a glass and steel case, as well as a host of oil-on-canvas paintings.
Pinchuk, a major Hirst collector, told Bloomberg that he was among the buyers at Hirst's solo auction at Sotheby's in September, which raked in a record £111.5 million ($157 million).
"Requiem" will run at the Pinchuk Art Center, the former Soviet Union's biggest private art museum, from April 25 through September 20. Admission is free.
