The town’s Château du Clos Lucé, Leonardo’s final residence, has already been converted into a museum and visitor center devoted to the artist. In addition, a children’s workshop devoted to Leonardo’s theories and his cultural influence will open next month. An abandoned industrial building is being converted in a Leonardo library; a virtual art gallery will show re-creations of his 17 known paintings; and a laboratory will explore his inventions, designs, and architecture. “Clos Lucé is unique. There is nowhere else in the world where Leonardo's presence during his life is so well documented,” said François Saint Bris, director of the château. “We intend to become the foremost site for the study and enjoyment of the achievements of probably the greatest mind, certainly the most versatile mind, that ever lived.” |
