L.A. Steps Out

Published: April 9, 2009
LOS ANGELES—The art world came out in force for the second-annual, four-day Los Angeles Art Weekend, featuring cutting-edge art, architecture, design, and performances all over the city.

ARTINFO stopped by a couple of the weekend's events to check out the scene.

On Saturday night, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art celebrated its current exhibitions "Art of Two Germanys/Cold War Cultures" and "Franz West: To Build a House You Start with the Roof, Work: 1972–2008" with a party featuring Berlin DJ/VJ Safy Sniper and Christine Lang.

The night before, artgoers gathered at Royal/T for an afterparty DJ'd by the multitalented artist Dave Muller, who currently has an exhibition at Blum & Poe [see what art he recommends seeing in L.A. here]. And that same evening, a gallery walk in Culver City attracted artists, curators, and other creative types.

ARTINFO was also on hand for the March 31 launch of Postopolis!, a five-day blogging party hosted by ForYourArt.com and New York's Storefront for Art and Architecture.
