Emin and the Chapman brothers are all part of the Young British Artists movement — she became famous for her provocative, intensely personal works such as My Bed, which consisted of her unmade bed strewn with used condoms and blood-stained underwear; they've gained attention for recreating or updating other artists' work. Last year they introduced a series of watercolors painted by Adolf Hitler, which they had enhanced with stars, hearts, and rainbows. Emin’s original tent was destroyed in the legendary Momart warehouse fire in 2004 and although she has refused to re-create it herself, saying it would be “morally wrong” to do so, the Chapman’s don’t seem to think so. The Chapmans say that Emin has threatened to sue them if they show their interpretation in public. |
