Painter Frida Kahlo is closely associated with her home country of Mexico, but her father was a German immigrant and his country is pitching in to help out her namesake museum.
Attendance has plummeted 90 percent at the Frida Kahlo Museum in Mexico City, thanks to the swine flu, so the $70,000 donation from Germany is a welcome move. The money will be used to restore paintings, photographs, and sculptures that Kahlo and her husband, Diego Rivera, collected and produced.
