Who doesn't love a good top 100 list? Following on the heels of last week's top 100 U.S. architecture firms, courtesy Architect magazine, Kunstkompass (Art Compass) has announced its roster of the top 100 contemporary artists, the top 10 of which are: Georg Baselitz, Gerhard Richter, Bruce Nauman, Sigmar Polke, Maurizio Cattelan, Olafur Eliasson, Anselm Kiefer, Richard Serra, Mike Kelley, and William Kentridge. The list is determined using a number of factors, including exhibitions at major institutions and reviews in art magazines.

Depressingly, but perhaps not surprisingly, the highest-ranking female artist, Louise Bourgeois, comes in only at number 13. Other interesting statistics include the geographical breakdown — 28 artists from Germany, 25 from the U.S., 12 from the U.K., four from Italy, and four from Switzerland — as well as the number of artists new to the list: 46, among them China's Ai Weiwei and Cao Fei and Romania's Dan Perjovschi.
