NEW YORK—Last night’s unseasonably cool weather did nothing to dampen the excitement over the first party at New York City’s newest park, the High Line, hosted by the Calvin Klein Collection. Under black lights — and with techno music blaring — some of the city’s most influential people came out to show their support for the "garden in the sky" and its friends and financiers.

In attendance were Philip Falcone, co-founder of hedge fund Harbinger Capital Partners Funds, and his wife, Lisa Maria, who donated $10 million to the High Line project, as well as the founders of Friends of the High Line, Joshua David and Richard Hammond, and board member Edward Norton. A bouquet of fashion designers came by after the 2009 Council of Fashion Designers of America Menswear Designer of the Year Awards at Lincoln Center, where Calvin Klein Menswear Creative Director Italo Zucchelli tied for the top prize with Scott Sternberg of Band of Outsiders. And among the splashier guests were Debbie Harry, screen couple Danny DeVito and Rhea Perlman, model and actress Molly Sims, and Gossip Girl starlet Michelle Trachtenberg were also there.

The first section of the High Line, a 22-block elevated railway that traverses Manhattan’s West Side, opened June 9 as a 6.7-acre public park, which includes an installation by artist Spencer Finch.
