Egyptian Archaeologists Find 3,500-Year-Old Tomb

Published: June 18, 2009
LUXOR, Egypt— A 3,500-year-old tomb of an ancient Egyptian known as the Supervisor of Hunters was discovered by archaeologists digging in a necropolis at Luxor, along with two other tombs.

The tomb of the supervisor, Amun-em-Opet, dates back to the 18th dynasty of Egyptian pharaohs, between 1570 and 1315 B.C. The two other undecorated tombs — for the Supervisor of the Cattle of Amun and the Royal Messenger and Supervisor of the Palace — were found northwest of Amun-em-Opet's tomb, along with unidentified mummy fragments and funerary figures.
