Frank Lloyd Wrights Ennis House, which he hoped to be appreciated by lovers of beauty for years to come, is being offered for sale for $15 million by the Ennis House Foundation.
Wright’s grandson Eric Lloyd Wright, who is also a member of the Ennis House Foundation's board, said his grandfather designed houses for people to live in. The 6,000-square-foot Ennis House was inspired by the ruins of Uxmal, Mexico, and includes a main structure and a chauffeur's quarters. There is an elevated dining room with a fireplace as well as a study and living room, which contains a glass-tile mosaic fireplace. The kitchen and a third bedroom occupy a separate wing. One condition of the sale will be an easement to ensure that the public has access to the house a few days a year.
