Two Banksy Murals Vandalized in Bristol
Published: June 25, 2009
It's not the first time The Mild Mild West has been attacked. In April it was splashed with red paint by a group calling itself Appropriate Media, which said the action was a protest against gentrification of the city's Stokes Croft area. The red paint was later cleaned by community volunteers. Businessman Albert Murphy, a Conservative councillor for Avonmouth, said he was cleaning the Park Street work himself because the council was unable to. Meanwhile, this summer the Bristol City Museum and Art Gallery is showing a free exhibition of Banksy's work, which has drawn thousands of visitors. |
