Louise Blouin Foundation Opens “Design High”

Published: June 25, 2009
LONDON—The Louise Blouin Foundation opened the exhibition “Design High” today in London. The show, organized in partnership with Carpenters Workshop Gallery, is an investigation into the work of design art through the work of a host of established and up-and-coming artists in the field.

Participating artists include Atelier Van Lieshout, Marc Quinn, Sebastian Brajkovic, Thierry Dreyfus, Wendell Castle, and others.

The show looks at the fine line between art and craft and the tensions that arise when a piece of fine art also has a function beyond purely aesthetic or formalist value. A number of the works in the exhibition were created in direct response to the large, open gallery spaces of the Louise Blouin Foundation.

“Design High,” which is complemented by design shows also running this summer at Tate Modern and the Victoria & Albert Museum, is on view through August 30.
