Sculptor’s Profile Raised With Tate Britain Commission
Published: June 30, 2009
The museum has chosen the sculptor to create a piece for the Duveen Galleries, its central space, in order to raise her public profile and possibly make her a household name. For her commission, she has created a large aluminum sculpture that some say resembles a lightning strike or a giant scribble. The 80-meter-long, 1.8-ton structure, titled Cold Corners, fills the entire space, and the public can walk in between and around it. The work is open for viewing by the public today, through November 29. Rothschild's previous sculptures include one called Jokes, which is a series of interlinked cubes, and Plain Gold Ring, a gold ring standing on vertical gold ribbons. |
