Haunch of Venison may have expanded too fast for its own good. The contemporary-art dealer, which is owned by Christie’s, says it will close its Zurich space, which it opened in 2005.
The dealer denies that the recession contributed to the decision and points instead to an expanding exhibition program in Berlin, New York, and London. "Following Haunch of Venison London's recent relocation to 6 Burlington Gardens earlier this year, the London program has been extended to include a broad range of multifaceted exhibitions," Haunch of Venison said in a statement. "The closure of the Zurich space will allow the gallery to further focus on a program of work by gallery artists and invited participants.” The dealer opened a Manhattan gallery last September.
