LOS ANGELES— The Getty Center has reopened today after a brushfire in the nearby Sepulveda Pass forced the evacuation of about 1,600 visitors and 800 staff members at its museum and caused the center to be closed.

The midweek fire consumed 80 acres of land, but no damage was reported to the Getty's structure or grounds, and there was never any danger to the J. Paul Getty Museum’s collection. The blaze was 90 percent contained by Wednesday evening after it was sparked accidentally by a weed-abatement program, fire authorities said.
