Dash Snow Piece Won’t Go to Bid

Published: July 20, 2009
NEW YORK—Collectors will have to wait a little longer to find out how the value of artist Dash Snow's work has been affected by his premature death at the age of 27 last Monday. A piece Snow donated to Robert Wilson’s Watermill Center benefit auction has been tentatively pulled from the block, pending final word from Wilson. A collector and friend of Snow's and his family (particularly his grandmother Christophe de Menil), Wilson is concerned about the family's feelings as they deal with Snow’s passing.

Tributes to the artist are already being seen around New York’s East Village, the neighborhood where he lived and worked. Just this weekend, New York magazine spotted a dedication to Snow on a recently completed downtown Os Gemeos mural. The piece now reads "Dedicated to Dash Snow R.I.P. (Sacer IRAK)."
