The owners of Huff Harrington Fine Art are hoping someone will recognize a French painting that was stolen during a recent Bastille Day party at the gallery, assuming the thief tries to sell or display it.
Christian Nepos Red Sail Against Clearing Sky, which measures only 9 by 4½ inches and was listed at $975, was displayed on an easel in a corner close to the front door during the July 14 event. It’s thought that whoever took it blended in with the crowd of about 150 wine-sipping arts patrons. The gallery has reported the crime to police and plans to have a security guard at its next party.
