Hot as Hell at Watermill

Published: July 27, 2009
SOUTHAMPTON, N.Y.— The 16th annual Watermill Summer Benefit took place this past weekend at the Watermill Center on Long Island, with a weather-appropriate theme: inferno. The dress code was described simply as "flaming." Guests began arriving at 6 p.m. for a night filled with cocktails, dinner, and entertainment that included dancing and a live auction hosted by Simon de Pury. Installations and performances interpreting the theme were also presented by this year's international benefit artists and residents.

Among those who turned out for the self-billed "hottest evening of the summer" were singer-songwriter Rufus Wainwright and his boyfriend, Jörn Weisbrodt, the creative director for the Byrd Hoffman Watermill Foundation (which runs the Watermill Center); artists Terence Koh and Marina Abramović; Italian actress Isabella Rossellini; fashion designers Calvin Klein and Nicole Miller; and many more.
