Mural Makeovers at 30 Rock

Currently, conservators are hard at work behind scrims — giant photographs of the murals that hide both the originals and their restorers. A main goal is to restore lightness to the pieces, which have been darkened over 80 years of exposure and previous restoration attempts. The lobby was originally designed by Edward Trumbull and features work by José María Sert and Frank Brangwyn. Read more at the New York Times. |
