A $30 million loan from the city of Los Angeles would let the Kodak Theatre house Cirque du Soleil for the next 10 years.

CIM Group, which leases the Kodak from the city, sought the loan to update the theater to serve the acrobatic show's technical needs. A major benefit to Cirque's getting a permanent home in L.A. would be jobs: Backers of the show have promised to create no fewer than 858 if the deal goes through.
