Art Provocateur Terence Koh Weds in Style
Published: August 4, 2009
Koh was wed — although not legally, since New York state does not allow gay marriage — to his longtime boyfriend Garrick Gott, a graphic design artist. For the occasion, the Chinese-Canadian artist donned his mother's wedding dress, adding $50 worth of tulle for a 30-foot train. The ceremony was no less distinctive: Gott wore a white tuxedo and waited in a tree for Koh, who arrived in a while canoe. The event took place in the garden of art patrons and collectors Phil and Shelley Aarons, with a small, roughly 30-person crowd that included Julian Schnabel offspring Vito and Stella Schnabel; Olivier Sarkozy, brother of French President Nicolas Sarkozy, and his wife, Charlotte; and Deitch Projects gallery director Kathy Grayson.
