The Conservation Online database, a resource for conservation professionals, has been saved after its hosting university said it could no longer afford to run it.
Stepping in is the American Institute for Conservation, which will take over from Stanford University, a move the conservation community is greeting with relief. The forum is used by nearly 10,000 conservators in more than 90 countries and is most valued for the open discussions in its DistList section. The institute plans to return the DistList to full operation as soon as possible. The California school hosted Conservation Online for 22 years, since it started in 1987, but says it had to give it up because of economic pressures. Read more at the Art Newspaper.
