Here's a possible reason for the Mona Lisas bemused, mysterious smile: Maybe she can see the humor in being attacked — with a teacup.
Leonardo da Vincis famous painting had a cup thrown at it last week at its home in Paris’s Louvre. The painting was left unscathed, as it is housed behind bulletproof glass, but its attacker was promptly subjected to a psychological evaluation. She is suspected of having Stendhal syndrome, a psychosomatic condition in which a work of art can inspire the sufferer to act irrationally in response to it.
