Eileen Gray's “The Dragons” armchair (circa 1917–19) fetched €21,905,000 (approx. $28 million; est. €2–3 million) at the staggering Yves Saint Laurent sale last February.

PARIS—Earlier this year, Christie's massive sale of items from the collection of late fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent and his partner, auction house owner Pierre Bergé, stunned the art world when it earned a record €374.4 million ($530.5 million). Now the house is offering another selection from the couple's collection, this time roughly 1,200 pieces, on November 17, 18, and 19 in Paris.

About half of the items on offer are from Chateau Gabriel, the couple's coastal retreat near Deauville in Normandy. In general, the works in the fall auction are more modestly priced pieces from the collection. The highest estimated lot is Fernand Leger's gouache Les travailleurs au repos (1950), at €80–120,000. "The second sale is about the house in Normandy and the other contents of the Paris apartments," said Jonathan Rendell, deputy chairman of Christie's Americas. "The vast majority of things are estimated at less than €10,000. It’s much more approachable and personal." Proceeds from the sale, which will be held in conjunction with auction house Pierre Bergé and Associates, will benefit HIV research and the fight against AIDS.
