1989: The Art Dealers Association of America Art Show and the International Antique Dealers Show kick off in New York.

1991: Art Miami premieres.

1993: Three-year-old Art Chicago, run by David and Lee Anne Lester, gains on the city’s long-running Art Expo; both fairs face a rival in Art 1993 Chicago: The New Pier Show.

1996: Art Forum Berlin; Liste, in Basel; and the Los Angeles Art Show make their debuts.

1997: The American International Fine Art Fair, in Palm Beach; Paris Photo; and Art Palm Beach all launch.
