Prince Charles Threatens to Leave the National Trust

LONDON—Prince Charles is once again moving forward in his attempts to keep the architecture of Great Britain as traditional as possible. An aide for the royal has informed the National Trust that the Prince, who acts as president of the charity, will step down from his position unless plans for a new building in Swindon are changed to reflect his own design preferences, which are known to lean away from more modern aesthetics. The Prince and the National Trust had tussled over a building design once before, with the organization ultimately prevailing.

Just days ago, Charles attempted to have architect Jean Nouvel removed from a project he didn’t want headed up by a modernist; earlier this summer, the royal severed ties with the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings, also due to their unwillingness to preserve a more traditional aesthetic.
