Shortlist Announced for World Building of the Year

Treusch Architecture's design for Ars Electronica in Linz, Austria, is among the nominees for World Building of the Year.

The shortlist has been announced for this year's World Architecture Festival Awards, to be announced at the festival taking place November 4–6 in Barcelona. Though it's not a very short list. Included among the contenders for World Building of the Year are 272 projects from 67 countries, including both typical architectural hotbeds and emerging markets such as Iran, Sierra Leone, Vietnam, Ghana, and India.

Among the art-related contenders are the Saatchi Gallery in the Duke of York's headquarters in London, by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris; the Ars Electronica Center in Linz, Austria, by Treusch Architecture; a planned new home for Sperone Westwater Gallery in New York, by Foster & Partners; and a planned space for the Bombay Arts Society in Mumbai, by Sanjay Puri Architects.
