LACMA Film Series Finds Some Angels

LOS ANGELES—
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is not ending its weekend film series after all, thanks to a joint donation by the Hollywood Foreign Press, Time Warner Cable, and Ovation TV. In July, museum Director Michael Govan decided to cancel the series because of a lack of funding and diminished attendance. Public outcry was immediate, and in the month following the announcement, a number of potential donors met with Govan to discuss the program’s rescue.
The three sponsors will together donate $150,000 to a revamped series, as well as a $1.5 million in-kind contribution to market it. Govan says the funds will take the program through next summer.
