Stint on Plinth Gets Participant a Job

LONDON— Participants in Antony Gormley's public art project One & Other have ranged broadly, from nudists to an aquatic scientist wearing a fish costume. One who certainly benefited from the experience was an unemployed university graduate who used his time on Trafalgar Square's fourth plinth to display a giant copy of his résumé and now has a job to show for it.

Alex Kearns, 23, had searched for months for work after graduating from Swansea University with a degree in French and Italian. During his hour-long sting on Gormley’s creation, he waved a placard bearing the appeal "Give me a job." He was later hired by a London business consultancy. Said Kearns, "In the current climate, you have to work hard to stand out from the crowd."
