China’s Anniversary Art Show Draws 130,000 Visitors

BEIJING—An exhibition celebrating China’s 60th anniversary under Communist rule attracted 130,000 visitors to the National Art Museum of China over its 25-day run, which ends today. The show was backed by the Culture Ministry and featured work by Chinese artists like Wu Guanzhong, Dong Xiwen, and Chen Yifei. It was the first time the museum offered free admission, in the hopes that the exhibit would offer the public an education not only in art but in China’s recent history as well.
